Dear
Supporter,
I
would like to take a few minutes to let you know what has been going on
with my campaign and where it is headed now that the primary election is
only 21 days away! September 12th is the critical date and I need everyone
to go to the polls and Vote! If you are not registered to vote - you have
until August 22nd (Today!) to submit your application. If you need an absentee
ballot, please send me an email and I will ensure one is sent to your address.
Early voting might not happen this election cycle, so you may need to vote
by absentee ballot to be sure your vote counts!
I
have received several key endorsements from the Howard County Police Officer's
Association, the Maryland State Teacher's Association, the Howard County
Educator's Association, and the Women Under Forty Political Action Committee.
But your endorsement is the one I appreciate the most. Join the Winning
Team and Help elect Melissa as YOUR representative in Annapolis.
Word
of mouth endorsements are the most powerful tool in a grass roots campaign.
I would greatly appreciate your endorsement of my campaign by telling your
friends, family and neighbors about me and the issues we care about.

Howard
County Fair & Parades - Thanks
I
LOVED meeting and speaking with so many voters!
The
2006 Howard County Fair is in the history books and was certainly one of
the largest events of the year. I had a great time meeting so many people
in such a short time. Thank you to everyone who took a few minutes to learn
more about my platform, qualifications and commitment to this district.
I enjoyed the entire week thoroughly!
For
those of you who stopped by my booth in the main exhibit hall - you might
be wondering about the free popcorn we handed out: 2800 bags were given
away; 125 pounds of popcorn and 3 gallons of Canola oil used!! (I'm ready
to see popcorn anytime soon.) I think it was a big success and drew more
people to the table than otherwise would have visited. The coloring books
were also a big hit - If you would like a copy of the one we handed out,
please let me know.
The
parades were also a huge event and I enjoyed all the support and encouragement
I've been getting. I also enjoyed the parade at Mount Gregory the same
day. It was perfect weather and turned out to be a truly wonderful day!
Thanks to everyone who turned out to support these events.

Sign
Waving - It's that time of year again!
Name
Recognition
I
will be out nearly every morning for daily sign waving. What is sign waving
you ask? Exactly what it sounds like - we stand next to our campaign signs
and wave to the cars as they pass by. It is usually done at morning rush
hour but can be done at any time of the day.
It
is done to increase name recognition for candidates and get people talking
about the upcoming elections. Safety is the paramount concern during this
activity since we don't want to cause an accident! That never goes over
very well!
But
most people are very friendly and smile & wave back! It's actually
fun once you get set up and start waving. If you'd like to join me one
morning, give me a call and we'll find a location that's close for you!
It only takes an hour or so and it's a neat experience.
